Yvetot

Capitale du pays de Caux, popularisée par la chanson de Béranger, une ancienne tradition qualifie du titre de roi les seigneurs d’Yvetot et la seigneurie de royaume.

Au carrefour de routes importantes, la ville connait au XVIIIème et XIX ème siècle un essor important. Quasiment détruite par les bombardements allemands de 1940, elle sera reconstruite tout comme l’église nouvelle dédiée à Saint Pierre dont l’immense verrière de 1000 mètres carrés provoque une impression inoubliable.

Main town of the pays de Caux, popularized by a song by Béranger, an ancient tradition gives the title of king to the lords of Yvetot and the lordship of the kingdom. At the crossroads of major roads, the town grew rapidly during the 18^th and 19^th century. Almost entirely destroyed by German bombings in 1940, it was rebuilt as well as its church dedicated to Saint Peter and whose 1000 square meter glass roof leaves an indelible impression.
